Mend: Listen Now & Listen Good is a one-time theater event taking place in celebration on Mother's Day and artist autonomy on May 13, 5-7pm on PUNTO's main stage.
A diverse group of multidisciplinary women in the arts, performers, and storytellers will take the stage on topics to include gender, age, culture, motherhood and being a woman.
The evening is sponsored by PUNTO Space, an event and performance raw space located in Midtown West (NYC) founded by theater and performing artists with social good in mind.
Mend: Listen Now & Listen Good is a celebration that amplifies artist autonomy, inclusion in the arts and collaboration.
Light refreshments will be served. Admittance is RSVP-only and complimentary for guests.

Mend: Listen Now & Listen Good is a #PuntoArts initiative that will be hosted by Cynthia Williamston of Bridal Tribe Magazine. Cynthia launched the Tribal Wisdom Radio Network in 2012, a daily podcast now on hiatus, to discuss keys to a successful relationship and marriage. Popular segments include Are You Ready For The Ring?, Marriage Bonds, Boundaries, and Beliefs and Couples in Business.
Brazilian New Yorker Gio Mielle is an actress, theater producer and journalist who has cultivated her love of film, theater, and the arts into a career that feels more like a labor of love. Gio celebrates 2018 international recognition for her contributions to Clarice's Hour and Nettles Artists Collective produced original one-woman performance Bother Line (dir. Debora Balardini). Catando feijão is a Brazilian Lullaby singing the legacy of mothers who traditionally pick through and sort huge buckets with beans from the kitchen table, the heart of the house, removing the ones that look bruised. The rest of the beans feed the family.
After 30 years in the arts, social entrepreneur, theater performer, director, and educator Debora Balardini continues to be a presence known for operating three successful enterprises and also for her work in physical and choreographic theater. Mend: Listen Now & Listen Good was a story in the heart of PUNTO co-founder and its Director of Artistic Affairs, Debora Balardini.
Santo Domingo native Laura Gómez is best known for transforming herself into “Blanca Flores,” a cunning and disheveled inmate on the award-winning smash Netflix hit series Orange is the New Black. Film and television credits include Exposed, starring Keanu Reeves and Ana de Armas, HBO’s Show Me a Hero and Law & Order SVU. Gómez has starred in several short films including To Kill a Roach -winner of the NYU Fall 2012 Technisphere Award for Outstanding Achievement- and Hallelujah, both of which she also wrote, directed and produced. Her latest work as director and co-producer was the short filmThe Iron Warehouse, written by Juilliard alumni, Hilary Bettis.
Gómez resides in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
Cécile Delepière is a French native from Aix-en-Provence. She is both an actress, a filmmaker and runs PETIT KINO, a little ‘cinema’ for families. Her short film ALMOST THERE was Nominee for Best short film at the Indie Film Festival in Los Angeles and for Best short film at UK Film Festival in London. Cécile is the co-creator of DIARY OF AN ACTOR, a web series about the art and craft of acting. She has worked on multiple documentaries for French television, and created THE WHO?MEN PROJECT; a series of portraits about love. She is now guest starring in HBO's High Maintenance, along Ben Sinclair and Myriam Shor.
POISONING THE PROPHETS is a sci-fi noir film in development; the story is inspired by the disappearance of our honeybees. In this speech, the protagonist, SOA, speaks from the future about a past filled with loss; hope in a crumbling world; honeybees…and salt. I didn't really write this speech; rather, it wrote me, but I did pick up the pen and transcribe, and in doing so, I gave birth to it...at the same time as it gave birth to me.
Writer Kahshanna Evans sheds light on the resilience of the human spirit in Amani, a short screenplay. During its initial invitation-only staged read in Los Angeles, Amani received praise from director/producer Bob Degus and Aneetha Rajan who is known for her work with Michael Moore. Seven Seconds is a series of monologues examining the events surrounding the tragic death of a teenage girl. In doing so, it explores themes of bullying, sex and suicide. Recent awards and nominations include; best actor for her role as Hils in 'The Gun Man', best supporting actor for playing Shelley in the play 'Ladies Day' and Best film at the BAFTA qualifying Camarthen Bay Film Festival, for her directorial debut with 'Teddy Bears'. Hayley is also an experienced acting coach and specialises in screen acting.
MOTHERS, written by Lydia Darly, is an immigrant's inner reflection on the interconnectedness between her adoptive home, her Motherland and Motherhood. Lydia is the Co-Director and Co-Producer of The Womanity Project a Multi-media platform on gender, identity and equality.
Lydia is a frequent guest speaker and programmer at film festivals in support of emerging indie filmmakers and women in film. She received the 2014 Queens World Film Festival Community Award for her work as a moderator to the festival.

The song was written on my birthday the year of my father’s transition. Robyn is about to release her single "What Love Feels Like" in April of 2018. She will be performing a one woman show entitled "Dirty Laundry LIVE" slated to start in Fall of 2018.
ModestEAT is a multimedia project taking place May 11, 12 & 13 at PUNTO Space that takes back the image of brown bodies in the role of mother and demystifying the act of breastfeeding. The two floors of installations aim to spark the imagination and conversations around the mothering body and its agency.
